Know what you can promise.

See what is available, what is committed, what is due in, and what is needed to build. Before you say yes to an order, not after.

Built for

Businesses that count stock in, out and back again.
  • Event and furniture rentalReserve by date, and know what is back and when.
  • Small manufacturersNested bills of materials, with shortages shown before release.
  • Bakeries and food producersIngredients in, batches out, counted against orders.
  • Home stagingFurniture and decor out on a job, free again when it returns.

Today

You have inventory records, but you still piece together what is actually available.

With As Counted

Anyone on the team can answer what you can sell, build or send out, and explain what is missing.

Four workflows, one stock

Each workflow keeps its own rules. They all share the same numbers.

Selling removes stock. Building consumes some items and creates others. Renting changes who holds it and when it is free. Every one of them is recorded in the same history, so the totals agree.

  1. Sell

Reserve stock for an order, ship it, and handle returns. A cancelled order that has not shipped gives its reservation back.

    Discover selling
  2. Buy

Order from suppliers, receive partial deliveries, and see what is still owed. Receipts are never counted twice.

    Discover buying
  3. Make

Nested bills of materials. Uses free subassemblies first, works out the raw parts for the rest, and shows shortages before you release. More in manufacturing inventory software.

    Discover making
  4. Rent

Reserve for dates, dispatch, and take it back. You still own what is out; it is not free again until it returns. More in rental inventory software.

Worked examples

Find the shortage before it stalls the job.

Worked example · sample data

Build 1 bench for Fri 9 Oct

A bench needs 3 leg frames. Each leg frame needs 2 oak legs and 1 brace. Two leg frames are on hand, but one is already reserved for another order.

1
Oak leg short, release held
3
Leg frames needed, 1 free
Release is held until the oak leg is covered. Next steps:Order 1 oak leg due by Fri 9 Oct, and release counts it.Or move the build date after the next delivery of oak legs. The other order keeps its leg frame either way.

PO-121 from Oakline Timber

The delivery was short. Receive what arrived; the rest stays expected and still counts toward the jobs waiting on it.

Setup and exceptions

A working process from your existing spreadsheets.

No system to design or maintain. Start from the files you already keep, then handle the days that do not go to plan.

  1. Import and map

Drop in CSV or Excel files of items, opening stock, bills of materials or orders. Columns are matched for you and every row is checked before anything is saved.

    items.xlsx · 214 rows · 2 need attention

  2. A delivery comes up short

Receive what arrived. The remainder stays expected, and any job depending on it shows the gap.

    PO-121 · 4 of 10 received

  3. The count is off

Record a stock correction with a reason. The ledger keeps the difference, so you can see when it happened and who recorded it.

adjust −2 · reason: damaged in storage

  4. Check before you commit

Preview a build or an order to see shortages before anything is reserved. Drafts hold no stock.

The ledger

Every number has a reason.

On hand is the sum of recorded movements, each tied to the order, line and person behind it. When a physical count disagrees, the correction is recorded with a reason, so discrepancies are visible and explainable instead of silently overwritten.

  • Free to promise is worked out for every day of an order, including deliveries due in and rentals due back.

  • Confirming an order checks every day it covers. Drafts hold nothing.

  • Overdue rentals stay unavailable, and the orders they leave short are flagged.

  • A correction keeps its reason, and who recorded it, in the ledger.
